Privacy Policy for Journeys to Active Citizenship

Journeys to Active Citizenship (JAC) cares about your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines the types of information we collect from our website visitors, how we use and protect that information, and the third-party services we use to gather data.

What information do we collect about you?

Personally identifiable information

Journeys to Active Citizenship collects personally identifiable information for the purpose of communicating with you, or when you sign up for the JAC Discussion Forum/Hub. We collect this information through our contact form, activity survey form, feedback form, when you sign up to receive our email newsletters, or when you sign up for an account on our Discussion Forum.

We will never rent, sell or trade your personal information. The information you submit to us is only accessible to our employees who require access to manage, and to our contracted service providers who require access to provide services to you.

We use Mailchimp to collect and send the e-newsletters to you. If you subscribe to our email mailing list, the information you submit to us is only available to staff managing this information for purposes of sending you emails, and to contracted service providers.  Each e-newsletter that is sent will include a link that will allow subscribers to opt-out from the newsletter list. Once you unsubscribe, all data supplied including statistics collected, is deleted.  Learn more about how Mailchimp safe guards your data.

JAC uses Website Toolbox’s online discussion forum tool.  If you sign up for an account, you will be required to provide a username and an email address to create an account. The Full Name field is optional, and if you check the box, it will remain private and will not be shown on your profile page. You will also have the option of providing additional personal information on the Profile page. Please note that as the forum is available to the public, anyone can see the information that you post or share through your profile, however your email address will remain private and will not available to either the public, nor to other members. If you choose to close your account, your username may still appear associated with your posts on the forum, plus anything you have posted will remain online, but your other personal data supplied during sign up or on your profile will be deleted. Non-personally identifiable information

JAC collects non-personally identifiable information to better understand how our website is being used in order to better provide resources and services. This information may be shared with our partners and funders.

We collect information about your visit to our website, including your IP address (which can indicate your general location), browser and device type, access times, the website from which you came, the regions from which you navigate the website, and the pages you access.

We use cookies and similar tools to enhance your experience on our website. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. While most computer and some mobile web browsers automatically accept cookies, you can change your browser settings to prevent this or to notify you each time a cookie is set. However, please note that blocking or deleting cookies may limit your ability to fully use our website.

We use Google Analytics to gather website statistics and track user behavior. Google utilizes the data collected to track and examine the use of the websites, to prepare reports on its activities and share them with other Google services. Hotjar is a technology service that helps us better understand our users’ experience (e.g. how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.). Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our users’ behavior and their devices. This includes a device’s IP address (processed during your session and stored in a de-identified form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), and the preferred language used to display our website. Hotjar stores this information on our behalf in a pseudonymized user profile. Hotjar is contractually forbidden to sell any of the data collected on our behalf. Journeys to Active Citizenship may deem it necessary or appropriate from time to time to modify this privacy policy to reflect changes in the way we collect or use information or changes in privacy-related laws, regulations, or industry standards. Please check these terms periodically for changes. Using this site following the posting of changes to these terms shall constitute your acceptance of the revised terms. Information will be handled according to the privacy statement in effect at the time the information is used.
